I am second year Master of Social Work student at North Carolina State University. My passion for  social work stems from a love of service and dedication to volunteerism.The purpose of this portfolio is to introduce myself, to demonstrate my leadership capabilities, student involvement, experience, background and my development as an emerging teacher. Through academic artifacts, project descriptions and teaching artifacts it is my hope that you see my dedication to being a lifelong learner, my commitment to the helping profession of social work and my determination to create a student focused learning community.

Currently, I serve as the MSW student representative on the NC State Social Work Advisory Board , am the MSW Student Liaison for the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) North Carolina Chapter and volunteer at Corral Riding Academy. In 2013 I worked as a Teaching Assistant for the North Carolina State University Social Work Department, was a research assistant for the Center for Family and Community Engagement, and served as the MSW Representative to the University Graduate Student Association . I served as the 2013-2014 Chair of the UGSA internal Community Service Committee (CSC) and received the Chair of the Year Award.

I have developed strong leadership skills from participation in several professional development programs at North Carolina State University through the Center for Student Leadership, Ethics and Public Service (CSLEPS)Equal Opportunity Institute (EOI) 2014 Graduate, Equal Opportunity Graduate Scholar 2015 CandidateCertificate of Accomplishment in Teaching (CoAT) Program through Preparing Future Leaders 2014 Graduate and Visionary Leadership Certificate (VLC) 2015 Candidate.

My foundation year internship placement was as the School Social Work Intern for Wake County Public Schools at East Cary Middle School. This year, I am interning as a Co-Collaborative Coordinator for Stop Hunger Now.

I grew up in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina and am a 2008 alumna from Western Carolina University, holding a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Social Work. I have lived in Raleigh, North Carolina since 2011 and enjoy writing, traveling, the great outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
